ZN brings together locals, tourists, artists, economists, urban planners and creatives from all over the country.

 

Under the slogan Roots Grow, Northern Days mobilizes local communities and the Northern diaspora in community regeneration projects through culture.

 

The festival started in 2014 in Darabani, the northernmost city in Romania, which remains the heart of ZN today.

 

Founded by a group of people from Dărăbănești settled in other cities in the country, the festival attempts, through events, projects and cultural interventions, to explore answers to the question "how is the relationship between people and their birthplaces changing in today's borderless world?".

During the festival, the guesthouses in the area are full, and tourists stay in ZN campsites and with local hosts.

In the morning, participants can choose between classes, gastronomic tours of the region, MTB and Trail sports competitions, and various workshops on cultural and contemporary themes.

 

In the afternoon, the agenda includes debates with special festival guests, theater performances, art exhibitions, and meetings with writers.

 

Festival evenings bring concerts, film screenings, and Q&A sessions with guests and parties.

The festival mobilizes local communities, public administrations and economic operators from across the region.

 

In its first 12 years, the festival brought 750 cultural, educational and sporting events to the region.

✸ 2,500 young people involved in 20 communities in the North

✸ 20 healthcare institutions supported during the pandemic and 80 support actions for refugee centers during the war in Ukraine

✸ Creation of the Museum of the North, created and campaigns for the Enescu House in Mihăileni, the Old School in Darabani and the Romanian School of Arts in Cernăuți

✸ 1 park built (Poiana Stejarilor) and 1 school under reconstruction (#Primașcoală)
